BRUSH
WELLMAN PLATE PRODUCTS
Plate is a straight length of flat rolled
product thicker than 0.188” and wider
than 12”.
Plate
is typically used in applications such as:
- Heat
tolerant molds for plastic injection systems
- Structural
components in electrical resistance welding
- Galling
resistant wear plates and rub strips
- Metal
die casting, plastic blow molding, and injection
molding inserts
Plate
is available in solution annealed (A), cold
rolled (H), and age hardened tempers (AT
and HT). Temper selection depends on the
application and the method of component
fabrication. If the “A” or “H”
temper is selected, parts are usually machined
oversize to accommodate the slight dimensional
change that occurs during age hardening.
The parts are then finish machined.
Specialty
plates for use in the plastics tooling industry
are available in moldMAX®, PROtherm®,
or moldMAX XL®.
